I started as a rodman on a survey crew in 1979 and have seen the leap in technology and equipment that was unfathomable just a few decades ago. What used to take days with a 2 or 3 person crew can now be accomplished by a single individual in mere hours.
Through it all though, land surveying basics remain the same and the challenges that we face as a profession are probably even more now than they were before. My hope is that through the efforts of SLSI our members will be better informed and better equipped to meet these challenges.
